Carolina Wolves Basketball Association (CWBA), also known as Wolves Basketball Association Inc., is a 501(c)3 registered community-based non-profit youth basketball organization located in Eastern North Carolina. Every season, CWBA prepares and fills a team of Boys and Girls with ages ranging from 10 – 18 years for different travel basketball competitions in a healthy and positive environment. We have led our youth basketball team to play in multiple leagues such as Amateur Athletic Union (AAU), National Travel Ball Association (NTBA), United States Basketball Association (USBA), and many more.
CWBA operates a year-round training and travel basketball program that kicks off in mid-September. We have a robust, qualified, and excellent coaching staff with 10+ years of experience in teaching youth the game of basketball. Our coaches are parents who value the role and importance of education, WCBA training sessions are designed not to interfere with our young boys’ and girls’ academic activities. We have trained and grown the love of Basketball in over 400 youth, and a significant percentage of them go on to put up a fantastic performance in college basketball all over the country.
We are not your typical basketball travel program – we offer an array of other services such as mentoring, personal training, highlight videos, nutrition/dieting, and 1-on-1 basketball training session(s). We teach basketball fundamentals, sportsmanship, teamwork, and self-discipline, skills that make our youth stand out in their daily life. We don’t just build a team at CWBA, we build a family.
CWBA was started in response to the rising trend of high school dropout, egocentrism, and increased crime rate among young people in our community. Young people are influenced easily, we strive to get them to develop a positive mindset early so that they can stand upright in the midst of bad societal influence. To achieve this, set out to attract young people between the ages of 10 – 18 years with the game of basketball. Our engagement of young people from New Bern has united children from divided communities, rescued many youths from crime or violent behavior, sparked new friendships, and shatter barriers.
Through the training and active participation in basketball completions, we have connected children and young people from protestant, nationalist, or loyalist backgrounds in New Bern and its environs. We directly or indirectly instill team-building spirit, discipline, and sportsmanship in young people from diverse backgrounds. We now have a crop of youthful individuals with high moral values. Our aims and objectives at CWBA are:
to promote and sponsor recreational and competitive sport among the youth.
to instill teamwork, discipline, sportsmanship, respect, and leadership skills in youths.
to release youth that embraces the challenge of competition, joy of victory, and reality of defeat into the American society.
We started with 30 parents who allowed their children to participate and 5 local volunteers. Presently, we have trained and mentored over 300 New Bern youth. We have led teams to 24 different competition tournaments since inception and they have won 7 trophies/badges, and on multiple occasions reaching 2nd and 3rd place. We are committed to expanding our base to accommodate more students, and to make basketball training accessible to all youth of New Bern and its surrounding areas regardless of their background or financial status.
