CWBA was founded by Adrian Jones in 2014 out of the love of using sport to unite, educate, and inspire young people. Coach Jones, as he is fondly called, is a native of Birmingham, Alabama. He joined the service in 2005 and played basketball for the marines. After leaving the service, he went on to coach the high school basketball team at Oceanside High School in California. He coached the freshmen and JV girls team to 10 – 2 record.
Coach Jones moved to New Bern in 2012 where he volunteered to coach the local YMCA 5th – 12th graders. In 2018, he became the girls’ head coach at Tucker Creek Middle School, leading them to the semis back-to-back. A feat which has not been accomplished in over 10 years. He started New Bern Wolves as a non-profit in 2014 to teach the community youths basketball basics. By 2016, the name was changed to Wolves Basketball Association.
Coach Jones has been a pillar in New Bern since he joined the community, he has continued to teach, mold, and develop young student-athletes. Coach Jones’ motto is “Confidence comes with practice, practice how you play, the results will speak for itself!”
